Dortmund to offer Gundogan new deal

Borussia Dortmund are set to offer Ilkay Gundogan a new contract in a bid to stave off interest from Manchester United, according to the Mirror.

The Germany midfielder is set to be out of contract at the end of the season, and manager Jurgen Klopp is keen to not lose another of his prize assets after Robert Lewandowski agreed his summer move to Bayern Munich this week.

Another midfielder on United’s radar who appears to be out of their reach is Juventus’s Claudio Marchisio, who has revealed that he is keen to stay in Turin, the Metro understands.

The Italy international has fallen behind former United man Paul Pogba and Artur Vidal in the Juve pecking order, but is not ready to leave the club he has, bar a loan spell with Empoli, been with his entire career so far.

Meanwhile, Swansea City have denied reports suggesting that they are one of several Premier League clubs eyeing a loan move for Wilfried Zaha, according to ESPN.

The news comes days after Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis revealed his doubts that he will be unable to secure a return to Selhurst Park for the England international, who has barely featured for United this season.
