Evans and Rafael out of Sociedad clash

Manchester United manager David Moyes is without defensive duo Rafael and Jonny Evans for this evening’s Champions League clash against Real Sociedad.

Both were substituted at half time in the 3-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon and have remained in Manchester along with England pair Michael Carrick and Danny Welbeck while Tom Cleverley has made the trip despite also going off after the first forty-five minutes at the weekend with double vision.

An early own goal from Inigo Martinez was enough to wrap up the points for the Premier League champions when the sides met at Old Trafford two weeks ago, and three more points here will see United tighten their grip on top spot in Group A ahead of their trip to Bayer Leverkusen later in the month.

Meanwhile, Moyes has reassured striker Javier Hernandez that he is part of his plans, ESPN understands.

The Mexico international has seen his opportunities limited with the club so far this season, starting just once in both the Premier League and the Champions League, though he has scored four times in his eight appearances in all competitions, including a brace in the 4-0 League Cup fourth round victory over Norwich City a week ago.
