Ferdinand confident ahead of Arsenal visit

Rio Ferdinand has issued a rallying cry ahead of this weekend’s clash with Premier League leaders Arsenal, the Metro understands.

The champions currently sit in eighth place in the division, eight points behind the Gunners who are full of confidence following back to back wins over Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund.

As their league position would suggest, United’s league form has not quite been up to scratch, though they are unbeaten in seven games in all competitions and Ferdinand sees no reason why the club cannot continue the run.

Victory on Sunday could see them finish the weekend in second place such is the tightness of the chasing pack, though they would need the six teams between them and Arsene Wenger’s men to drop the appropriate amount of points.

Defeat would leave David Moyes’ men eleven points off the top ahead of the trip to Cardiff City on November 24th.

Elsewhere, Roy Hodgson has announced his England squad for the forthcoming friendlies against Chile and Germany.

United have no less than six players in the party, with Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley, Michael Carrick, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones all included for the games, which will take place on November 15th and 19th respectively.
