Kagawa – Reus swap deal on the cards?

Manchester United are planning deal that would see Shinji Kagawa return to Borussia Dortmund with Marco Reus moving in the opposite direction, the Express understands.

Kagawa, who arrived at Old Trafford last summer , has been used sparingly by David Moyes this season sparking rumours of a transfer back to the Bundesliga.

Meanwhile, United are keen on bringing in further reinforcements in January as they look to continue an improved run of form that has seen them move to within five points of Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Arsenal themselves are interested in securing the services of Reus, though United are hoping that their ability to use Kagawa as a makeweight in a deal will help them steal a march on their rivals.

Reus, who is set to win his eighteenth cap for Germany in Italy on Friday, has been in superb form for Jurgen Klopp’s men this season, scoring ten goals in seventeen appearances in all competitions.

Elsewhere, Robin van Persie has pulled out of the Netherlands’ squad for their forthcoming friendlies against Japan and Colombia, according to Sky Sports.

The striker has suffered a recurrence of a toe and groin problem, and will have to wait to win his eightieth international cap.
