Louis Van Gaal disappointed after long Injury break of Angel di Maria

Louis Van Gaal says that he is in the dark over the new injury suffered by record signing Angel di Maria.

The Argentine has been out of action for the last few weeks due to persistent and niggling injury problems. The 26-year-old was a major reason behind United rediscovering their form in the last few months. He has contributed nine goals in just 13 league matches through goals and assists. However, he has played only one match and 29 minutes since the turn of December. Di Maria was once again unavailable for the festive fixture list after suffering a hamstring problem.

The extent to which the new injury will keep him on the sidelines is yet to be revealed, but Van Gaal also admitted that he is in a similar position. Hamstring injuries usually take around three to 4 weeks, but it is thought that United discovered the issue with di Maria a little earlier and may get him back within two weeks. The FA Cup action comes to the Premier league clubs from next week and United will be keen to win this competition after having bowed out of the League Cup very early. United have matches against the likes of Stoke City, Southampton, and Leicester City in the next few weeks.

“He was injured in the last training session, he stepped out of the warm-up. It was a little bit amazing because he did everything very well. He stepped out and now we have to wait and see the analysis. I am not a doctor. Before we have a misunderstanding, we have to wait. No, it’s not the muscle injury. It’s more that the pelvis is not in a right relationship with his leg. It’s more for the doctor to explain than me,” said Van Gaal ahead of the trip to White Hart Lane.
