Manchester United may not be Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s dream club but the challenge they offered was enough to convince him to leave Borussia Dortmund for the Premier League.
Mkhitaryan established himself as one of the hottest properties in European football during a three-season spell in the Bundesliga, the midfielder scoring 41 goals and creating 49 in 140 appearances in all competitions.
Naturally Dortmund were desperate to hold on to the Armenia international when United came calling, but the 28-year-old opted could not turn down a switch to Old Trafford.
“United might not have been my dream club, but they have always been among the best clubs in the world for me,” Mkhitaryan told Sport Bild.

José Mourinho has admitted that he has drastically changed his style of football in order to satisfy the requirements of a club like Manchester United.
Known as a pragmatic manager, Mourinho has often placed a victory more than the style of the game. This has often led to many supporters being left treated with dour action at much of his previous clubs like Chelsea and Inter Milan. Mourinho made the first obvious change to attractive football when he took over at Real Madrid a few years ago.
Now, the Portuguese is once again requested to offer entertaining football as he is in charge of Manchester United – a club with great tradition when it comes to playingin a certain style. Since taking over from Louis van Gaal in the summer, Mourinho immediately set the target of winning the league and other multiple trophies. Continue reading
Jose Mourinho has been officially presented as the new Manchester United manager.
As usual, the Portuguese manager was quite bullish with his statements and stated that he want to win everything with Manchester United.
He said that he wants to turn Manchester United into a competitive team and make sure that they win trophies. For him, it is not sufficient to play good football, but you need to win. Jose Mourinho admitted that the past three years have been difficult for Manchester United fans, but he believes he can turn things around.
He believes that the players should believe in themselves and make sure that they start winning again. Mourinho said that he is not aiming the fourth place or to get back in the Champions League. He is aiming the title itself and believes that Manchester United has the resources to achieve this as from next season itself.
Manchester United’s record signing Angel di Maria has faced intense criticism following a string of poor performances in 2015. After being an immense reason behind the fortunes of United being revived at the start of the season, di Maria’s form nosedived in the second half of the campaign. Despite having cost the club £ 60 million only last summer, several astonishing transfer rumours linking him with an exit. Paris St Germain, who are one of the few clubs with the financial muscle to afford a player like di Maria, have been rumoured to be preparing an offer.
The Argentine, though, dismissed most of the transfer rumours by saying that he will definitely be at Old Trafford next season. After being an integral part of the Real Madrid team for several years, di Maria appears to be struggling with the large number of matches required from English clubs. Across the continent, teams often have a winter break and this is not available to players in England. Instead, they have to go through a rigorous schedule of matches and this largely appears to have caused di Maria’s alarming dip in form. The Argentine already came into the club with little rest following a World Cup campaign. Continue reading
Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville reckons that his former club Manchester United are returning back to their best. Neville was speaking after witnessing his former team get a fourth consecutive league victory. More importantly, this was against their arch rivals Manchester City. United have had a very poor record in the Manchester derby over the last two seasons. After more than four decades, they have been beaten on four consecutive occasions. There was a danger of City getting a fifth consecutive victory over United when Sergio Aguero opened the scoring inside the first 15 minutes.
However, United replied in stunning fashion and managed to win 4-2. The victory could have been even greater had it not been for some outstanding saves by City goalkeeper Joe Hart. This is clearly a United team playing with a lot of confidence and they look like the team under Sir Alex Ferguson. After being criticised heavily for his defensive tactics in the first half of the campaign, Louis van Gaal is starting to make his mark felt in the team. Neville was once critical of Van Gaal’s approach, but the Dutchman has altered the team’s style in such a way that they are now far more attractive. Continue reading

Manchester United’s ever decreasing hopes of clinching a top four spot appear to be all but over after they were easily beaten by Manchester City at Old Trafford yesterday evening.
Title favourites City took the lead inside the first minute, with Edin Dzeko turned the ball in after Samir Nasri’s initial effort came back off the post.
Manchester United will be hoping to take the momentum gained from Wednesday evening’s Champions League last sixteen second leg victory over Olympiakos when they travel to West Ham United in Saturday’s late kick-off in the Premier League.
Top scorer Robin van Persie could feature despite being stretchered off at Old Trafford midweek, while Jonny Evans is also pushing for a return after missing almost two months through injury.
Just as they did in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford back in November, goals from Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney secured a 2-0 win for Manchester United over Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
Again, like earlier in the season, it was a spot-kick from Van Persie that put the champions in front though this time around they had to wait until after half time to make the breakthrough.
