Jose Mourinho rules out summer move for Gareth Bale

Jose Mourinho has insisted that Manchester United are not in the hunt to sign Gareth Bale during this summer’s transfer window.

The Real Madrid midfielder has been heavily linked with an Old Trafford move this summer with the Red Devils looking to bolster their attack front.

United have been largely unsuccessful in their quest to sign a new attacker with a deal for Ivan Perisic far off from being complete. Inter Milan are said to demand fees of at least £48m, and this is still far from United’s £26m offer for the Croatia international.

Mourinho had highlighted last week that a deal for Ronaldo is ‘mission impossible’, and a reported asked Mourinho whether he shares a similar stance with Bale, for which, he replied: “The same [as Ronaldo]. You have contacts and feelings, you understand things, and it was clear that Bale likes Madrid, the challenge and situation. They are in a very good situation now and I never felt a desire for him to leave, so why waste time on it? No.” Continue reading

Manchester United Legend Defends José Mourinho’s Approach against Liverpool

Manchester United icon Ryan Giggs says that the club should get used to do Jose Mourinho adopting a defensive approach in some of the key games.

Manchester United have been criticised for changing their style of play and going all out defensive in the recent match at Anfield. Many saw this as a sign of Mourinho giving too much respect to Liverpool and their recent form. United have a tradition of playing attractive football and very rarely have they performed so poorly in the last three decades. However, Giggs says that Mourinho’s judgements should be trusted since it may be one of the ways to win trophies.

Even the great Sir Alex Ferguson used defensive tactics from time to time if he thought that it was the best possible way for United to win trophies. Ferguson, however, provided beautiful and attractive football to the club on most occasions and the defensive minded games were largely forgotten. Mourinho is struggling to match the same since he has a reputation for being a defensive coach on almost all occasions. Giggs tried to look on the positive side by claiming that a defeat would have caused a lot of pressure on the team going into the next few weeks.
