Tyler Blackett extends contract with Old Trafford

The 20 year old defender of Manchester United Tyler Blackett, has decided to extend his contract with the club at Old Trafford which extends until 2017. The young player had to be included on a permanent basis into the first team due to the departure of Rio Ferdinand and NemanjaVidic.

Blackett was loaned out Blackpool and Birmingham City in order to gain experience outside of the club before being drafted to the main team of Manchester United.

Manchester United’s Louis van Gaalbelieves that Tyler Blackett can become an outstanding player for the club as the young defender has what it to takes to continue developing and turn into a very important figure for Manchester United at Old Trafford, especially taking into consideration the departure of a few experienced players.

Louis van Gaal told reporters: “I am delighted that Tyler has signed a new contract. He is another young player that has risen through the academy system to break into the first-team squad this season. Tyler has great potential, and I believe he is at the right club to continue his development and progression to become a great defender.”

This new contract of Blackett will see him remaining at Old Trafford at least until 2017 but it also gives him the option of extending it for 12 more months if he desires on choosing this option.

The Dutch coach Louis van Gaal turned into a fan and supporter of Tyler Blackett after he was impressed by the performances of the young defender that he displayed during a preseason tour of Manchester United in the United States.

After signing his contract extension with Manchester United, Blackett stated that he has always been a supporter of the English club and he hopes to help the team in their journey of securing a Champions League spot that will allow them to compete in the European competition in the upcoming season.
