United to enter Cavani race?

Manchester United have been linked with a last-minute bid for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani, after it was revealed that the Uruguayan is yet to seal a move to Chelsea.

The Blues are the odds on favourites to land the 26 year old, after it was reported on Napoli’s official radio station that a deal had been agreed, though the player’s agent has insisted that nothing has been finalised.

Cavani is one of the most sought after strikers in world football, having scored 81 goals in 104 league appearances over the last three Serie A campaigns.

He is currently representing Uruguay at the Confederations Cup in Brazil, and will face the hosts in the first semi-final tomorrow evening.

Meanwhile, Thiago Alcantata looks set to sign for Manchester United after the Daily Star have reported that the Spaniard has agreed a five year deal with the club.

The midfielder, who scored a hat-trick in his sides European under 21 Championships final victory over Italy last week, will cost £17million.

Meanwhile, the Sun have reported that Barcelona are set to enter the race to sign United striker Wayne Rooney.

Chelsea and Real Madrid have also been linked with the England international, who is set to discuss his future with manager David Moyes next week.
