Van Persie back for Saints clash

Manchester United top scorer Robin Van Persie is set to return to the starting line-up for tomorrow’s visit of Southampton.

Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand are also expected to feature, though Ashley Young and Jonny Evans are still out.

Meanwhile, Phil Jones has stated that his ability to play in a number of positions is counting against him at Old Trafford.

Jones, started his first league match of the season as a centre midfielder the 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur nine days ago, despite the 20 year old favouring a centre-back role.

His appearance there in the FA Cup fourth round win over Fulham on Saturday was only his third at the heart of the back four in seven outings in all competitions this season.

Wilfred Zaha is set to make his first appearance for Crystal Palace since securing his move to United in tomorrow evenings game at Huddersfield Town.

It is reported that the club are preparing a late bid of around £10 million for Celtic midfield Victor Wanyama ahead of Thurday nights transfer deadline.

Finally, Paul Scholes had his car stolen whilst defrosting the windscreen following the adverse weather in the North West of England over the weekend.

The midfielder had left the engine running to melt the ice on his Chevrolet Captivia Estate yesterday evening, and after nipping into his home in Oldham, returned to find the car had been taken.
