Former Newcastle United striker Faustino Asprilla has urged fellow Colombian Radamel Falcao to sign for Manchester United, according to the Daily Mail.
The 27 year old is one of the most sought after players in Europe after scoring fifty league goals over the last two seasons for Atletico Madrid.
Chelsea and Manchester City are both reportedly interested in signing the striker, valued at around £46million, though Asprillia suggested that due to United’s knack of always competing, Old Trafford is the place to go to be successful.
Asprilla went on to say the only striker in Premier League history comparable with Falcao, is his former teammate Alan Shearer, before describing a potential partnership with Robin Van Persie as “unstoppable”.
Meanwhile, Sir Alex Ferguson has said that he is not concerned with Danny Welbeck’s lack of goals this term.
The England international has only netted twice this season, with his only league effort coming in the 4-2 win over Stoke City.
However, the United manager puts the 22 year olds low tally down to him being deployed in a number of positions, and has insisted that he is valued by the club.
Finally, Robin Van Persie has finished second to Gareth Bale in the Football Writers Association Footballer of the Year awards, with the Welshman taking 53% of the votes.
