Baines keen on United move

Leighton Baines has asked his manager Roberto Martinez and chairman Bill Kenwright to agree a deal to sell him to Manchester United, the Independent understands.

The England left-back has been the subject of three failed bids from the Premier League champions, the latest of which a joint effort to sign both him and midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

David Moyes has made signing the 28 year old one of his main priorities since arriving at Old Trafford, and is keen to bring in new additions before the transfer window closes on Monday evening.

One player on his way out of Old Trafford is striker Angelo Henriquez, who has joined Spanish side Real Zaragoza on a season-long loan according to ESPN, while midfielder Nick Powell is closing in on a move which would see him join Wigan Athletic for the remainder of the current campaign.

Meanwhile, while the club wait to see who they will be drawn against in the group stages of the Champions League, they have discovered their opponents in the third round of the League Cup.

United will host fierce rivals Liverpool, who the face at the weekend, in the week commencing 23rd September.

The game could see the return to action of controversial Reds striker Luis Suarez, who completes his ten game suspension just days before.
