It would be fair to say that Robin Van Persie has made a grand impression at Old Trafford following his big money move from Arsenal, and it now appears as though it’s not just the fans who are delighted with his arrival. According to Michael Carrick, playing with the Dutchman is a dream as it gives the team that extra bit of confidence in front of goal.
Even though there were concerns about the transfer considering Van Pesie’s age, it looks as though the 29-year-old hasn’t given it a second thought following a return of four goals in his opening three games. Moreover, with RVP managing a hat-trick in the club’s most recent encounter against Southampton, there’s no doubt that his confidence is exceptionally high at the current time.
It’s not just his confidence that is brimming following this goal haul either. Midfielder Carrick says that it is a huge advantage to have a proven goal scorer like Van Persie in the squad, as a decent supply will usually result in a good return in front of goal. Speaking to the press he said, “World-class players have got a presence. When the ball came to Robin for his first goal on Sunday, I was so confident it was going to be a goal. To have someone like that in your team is satisfying because you know if you supply him with the right ammunition, more often than not, he will put it away.”
With Wayne Rooney expected to miss at least the next few weeks through injury, Van Persie is almost certain to keep his place in the United starting eleven for the considerable future. However, with fixtures against Liverpool, Newcastle and Tottenham on the horizon, it remains to be seen if he can continue such form against more formidable opponents.
