Do AC Milan want Berbs?

Following Dimitar Berbatov’s announcement that he was seeking to leave Old Trafford, there have been numerous rumours circling about which club could acquire his services. The majority of these reports have been linking the Bulgarian with a move to Italy, with AC Milan thought to be keen admirers of the 31-year-old.

Berbatov announced on Sunday that he was looking for a new club, after he found first team opportunities so difficult to come by last term. The player’s announcement coincides with Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s proposed move to Paris St-Germain, meaning that several sources have concluded that Berbatov is on the shortlist of the Serie A outfit.

It appears as though a move to Italy would certainly interest the former Tottenham striker as well. When asked about a potential move to Milan, his agent Emil Dantchev said, “Dimitar likes Serie A and would be happy to discuss a move”.
Moreover, comments from Berbatov suggest that Milan would have to part with a small fee to land him.

Despite speculation stating that Berbatov is valued at £10m, the player has claimed on his Facebook page that Sir Alex Ferguson wants just £5m for him. He said, “I am tired of speculation. I read the papers and I see they say £10million is my price. I go and talk with Sir Alex, and he says to me £5m”.

It would certainly appear as though Berbatov will have no problems in finding a new club, with the Bulgarian still regarded as a hugely talented striker despite his lack of first team action. Even though he has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford, the fact that he has bagged 57 goals during his time at the club speaks volumes about his natural ability in front of goal. Following the Ibrahimovic news, it would appear as though Berbatov would be an ideal replacement for Milan.
