EVANS BACKS ROONEY

Jonny Evans has backed Wayne Rooney to silence his critics. Evans, who played a lot of games alongside Rooney while at Old Trafford, believes Rooney is a feisty character and is capable of bouncing back from any situation.

Rooney has not been that productive in the Premier League games for United in the 2015-16 Season and has drawn criticism because of that. His numbers in the other competitions and also, in the international games have been alright, though there is no denying that the star striker from England has not looked like playing his best Football at all lately.

According to Evans, Rooney has found himself in pressure situations at times in the past as well and he has shown tremendous temperament to fight his way through them. So, he should not be written off at any point of time.”

Speaking to reporters for a website that does a whole lot more than just sports betting, the 27-year old defender of West Bromwich Albion said, “This is nothing new to him. He has always been someone whom people have kept under scrutiny. To soak in all the pressure that has been put on him over the years, it’s quite tough, but, Wayne has dealt with it quite ably. He knows his game quite well and if anything is going wrong, he would have noticed it and would be working on it.”

“He is a knowledgeable player and quite strong too on mental fronts. I don’t think he would be that much concerned about what is being said about him.”

“There have not been too many players who have contributed more for United than Wayne. He is one of their legends. If it’s his day, he can rip apart any defensive line up and we all have seen that.”
