Former United star Ronaldo clinches Ballon d’Or

On the back of winning the 2012 Ballon d’Or, Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that his friend and former teammate Rio Ferdinand tried to convince him to re-join Manchester United in the summer, according to the Mirror.

The Portuguese international, who beat Lionel Messi and Franck Ribery to the award at the ceremony in Zurich yesterday evening, was linked with a return to Old Trafford at the end of last season.

However, he signed a new deal with the Spanish giants in September, which is set to keep the 28 year old at the Bernabeu until the end of the 2017/18 campaign.

Meanwhile, David Moyes has met with Juventus chiefs to discuss a possible double move for Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal, the Mail Online understands.

The United manager flew to Italy to watch Juve’s game against Cagliari on Sunday to cast an eye on former United man Pogba and Chile international Vidal, though neither are likely to be allowed to leave, at least until the end of the season.

Finally, Galatasaray are yet to make a bid for Nemanja Vidic, according to the Express.

The centre-back was linked with a move to the Turkish giants, but they are keen on signing someone who can play in the Champions League.
