Jones and Evans fit for Real

Manchester United are set to welcome back defensive due Phil Jones and Jonny Evans for tomorrow evening’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

The pair were both substituted in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Everton, though neither are said to have any serious injury worries.

United’s only notable absentee from their trip to Spain is midfielder Paul Scholes, who despite returning to training following a knee injury picked up in last month’s FA Cup victory over Fulham, was not named in the 22 man squad.

Ashley Young is included after recovering from a knee injury that has seen him not play since the win over Wigan Athletic on New Year’s Day.

Elsewhere, rumours that Everton left-back Leighton Baines could join the club in the summer have gathered pace, with the Express reporting that the England international will ask for a move at the end of the season.

Baines has been in stunning form for Everton this season, scoring five goals in twenty-five appearances including a sublime free-kick in Everton’s 2-1 win over Newcastle United last month, and has become for many, England’s first choice number three.

Should the transfer happen, it could pave the way for Patrice Evra to join Paris Saint Germain, with the Ligue 1 side reportedly interested in the 31 year old.
