Jones out for a month

Manchester United have been dealt an injury blow with the news that Phil Jones will be out for at least a month with shingles.

The 20 year old has only made eight league appearances this season after suffering back to back knee injuries, and had been set to feature for the England U21’s against Sweden in Walsall this evening.

Jones joins Michael Carrick on the injury list, after the midfielder was ruled out of England’s squad to face Brazil at Wembley tomorrow evening.

David De Gea was awarded the ManUtd.com’s man of the match award following his performance in the 1-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday evening.

The nod will provide a welcome boost for the Spanish keeper, having been publicly criticised in recent weeks.

Paul Scholes has surprisingly emerged as one of the favourites to fill the vacant manager’s position at Oldham Athletic.

Life-long Latics fan Scholes is currently second in the running behind former Crystal Palace boss Iain Dowie to take the post, though the possibility has been played down by Oldham chairman Simon Corney.

Finally, the club have announced that they will face Japanese side Yokohama F. Marinos, Tokyo at the Nissan Stadium on July 23rd, as part of their preparations for the 2013/14 campaign.
