David Moyes has revealed the magnitude of his attempts to keep Wayne Rooney at Old Trafford, telling TalkSport that he has met the striker “three or four times” since he began work at the club.
The 50 year confirmed that the England international was not for sale in his first press conference as Manchester United manager last week, though there is still uncertainty surrounding the player’s opinion on the matter.
Meanwhile, Moyes will include Wilfred Zaha as part of the first team’s pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia, Sky Sports understands.
The United boss is keen to monitor the winger, who is likely to be bedded into the first team next year, as opposed to being sent out on loan.
Elsewhere, Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala have joined the race to sign Nani, according to the Daily Star.
Galatasaray, Arsenal and Roma have also been linked with the Portuguese international, though Anzhi may have the edge having just appointed former United coach Rene Muelensteen to work alongside manager Guus Hiddink.
Finally, the Premier League champions have jumped on the social media bandwagon, opening an official Twitter account – @ManUtd – which attracted over 100,000 followers in just over two hours.
