Newcastle leading Zaha chase

Newcastle United are close to securing a loan deal for out-of-favour Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha, according to the Independent.

The former Crystal Palace man has made just two Premier League appearances since joining up with David Moyes’ squad last summer, and is set to be farmed out when the transfer window reopens next month.

A host of other top flight clubs have also been linked with the England international, to it is Alan Pardew’s men who look to be leading the race for his services.

Elsewhere, the club are considering a move for Porto left-back Alex Sandro, TalkSport understands.

With Patrice Evra’s linked with a return to France when his contract expires at the end of the season, a move for a player in his position is expected.

Everton’s Leighton Baines, currently side-lined with a broken toe, has been United’s first choice but they have reportedly lined up Sandro as an alternative option.

The 22 year old moved to Porto from Santos in August 2011, and has played every minute in the Primeira Liga for his club so far this season.

He has six senior caps for Brazil, and has an outside chance of making the squad for next summer’s World Cup finals.
