No extra transfer activity at Old Trafford

There was no deadline day action for Manchester United, as Wilfred Zaha proved to be the club’s only signing in the January transfer window.

Meanwhile Zaha is one of eight players who went out on loan last month, resigning for Crystal Palace until the end of the season.

David Petrucci and Scott Wooton both joined Peterborough United, with Robbie Brady and Joshua King also dropping down to the Championship with Hull City and Blackburn Rovers respectively.

Luke McCullogh moved to League Two promotion hopefuls Cheltenham Town, whilst Federico Macheda signed for Bundesliga side Stuttgart.

Finally, Chilean striker Angelo Henriquez joined Wigan Athletic, and scored on his Premier League debut against Sunderland two weeks ago.

Elsewhere, former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham, who had been training with Arsenal, has joined French Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint Germain until the end of the season, aand has agreed to donate all of his salary to a local children’s charity.

Meanwhile, Alex Ferguson has reportedly expressed his anger at Phil Jones being included in Stuart Pearce’s England U21 squad for Tuesday’s game with Sweden, as opposed to the full squad who play Brazil at Wembley 24 hours later.

However, Chris Smalling, Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck have all received call ups to the full squad while Ben Amos will join Jones in the Under 21’s along with Wilfred Zaha.
