Park: Kagawa will shine

With Shinji Kagawa arriving at Manchester United as something of an unknown quantity, there have been countless players lining up to speak highly of the Japanese midfielder. The latest is one of United’s own, with Ji-Sung Park stating that his club has signed a very talented player.

Park, who has come in for some criticism from his own supporters this term, will be one player who will be competing with Sir Alex Ferguson’s new recruit for a place in United’s midfield.

Despite this, the former PSV man told ManUtd.kr that he was very happy with the signing, “I know United have agreed a deal for Kagawa and I’m happy because we’re signing a good player. Manchester United is a huge club and every season we sign new, world-class names. I hope Kagawa shows how good he is next season and I think he will do. There is a lot of competition in the squad but it doesn’t matter who I’m competing with. We’re a team and I just want to concentrate on producing better performances.”

It is worth mentioning that the signing of Kagawa has yet to be formally completed, with the 23-year-old still to obtain a work permit. However, considering his reputation and the fact that he has represented his country on numerous occasions, this is regarded as a foregone conclusion and he will join his new teammates in the £12m transfer in the very near future.

Meanwhile, Kagawa has also received praise from United first team coach, Rene Meulensteen. Meulensteen has stated that the former Dortmund man is a hugely exciting talent, and has dropped the biggest hint yet that Sir Alex Ferguson will utilize him in the position just behind the striker.

Following on from the big transfer fee and all of the praise, Kagawa certainly has plenty to live up to and United fans will first get a glimpse of his abilities in the tours of South Africa, Norway and China.
