Paul Pogba’s situation at Manchester United remains a delicate one, even as the end of the season draws nigh. There are strong speculations that the French playmaker could exit the team with decreasing confidence in his abilities by the coach Jose Mourinho but then the huge financial investment in him is a major hindrance.

Pogba’s international teammate Antoine Griezmann has asked him to rise up to the occasion and prove his critics wrong. Both players are on international duty with France playing warm up games in preparations for the forthcoming World Cup.
“He came back with a huge smile on his face. He was happy. It’s not easy when you don’t play at your club or you don’t feel at your best. It happened to me and he knows that. He still enjoys having fun and working hard which are what matter the most,” the Atletico Madrid forward said.
Griezmann added that the French manager Didier Deschamps trusts Pogba and understands the situation at Old Trafford. Pogba has started just four of the last 11 games for Man Utd, in spite of being one of the club’s best players, and a major draw for fans. In recent weeks, Mourinho has preferred youngster Scott McTominay to play with Nemanja Matic in the middle. The Portuguese manager has also dismissed claims of issues between the player and him.
The £89 million invested in the player less than two years ago is yet to be fully repaid so the board, as well as Mourinho, is not eager to sell him. However, Mourinho has reportedly instructed scouts to work towards new targets for the club this summer.
Pogba has the potential to cut an iconic figure at Old Trafford and he is a strong source of commercial power. Mourinho is also hoping to get the best from the player he made a priority when he assumed the role. Other midfielders that have been linked to United include Fred, Arturo Vidal, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Marco Verratti, Jorginho and Jean-Michael Seri.
