PSG lining up £100 million Rooney bid

Mega rich French champions Paris Saint Germain are preparing a £100 million deal for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, according to the Mirror.

The extraordinary figure includes a £40 million transfer fee, plus wages on £15 million per year after tax.

That would see the England international take the same wages as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has been linked with a move away from the French capital after just one season.

Fellow Ligue 1 side Monaco are also said to be monitoring the Rooney situation, along with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.

The Metro report that Rooney, who has denied handing in a formal transfer request, is warming to the idea of moving to PSG, after taking advice from former international teammate David Beckham, who will end his own career with Carlo Ancelotti’s side on Sunday.

Elsewhere, the Mirror have reported that United are considering a bid for out of favour Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen.

The Belgian international as barely featured for the Gunners this calendar year, with Arsene Wenger preferring the partnership of Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker at the heart of defence.

Barcelona have also been linked with a move for the player, who joined Arsenal from Ajax in 2009.
