All the four aforementioned players missed the Villa game in the FA Cup and Manchester United were able to cope with them in the squad for the game. Manchester United were able to book their place in the fourth round thanks to the 1-0 home win over fellow ex-European champions Aston Villa. Scotland international Scott McTominay scored the only goal of the match in the first half. The Red Devils will face English Championship club Middlesbrough in the fourth round of the competition after seeing off Villa for the right to be among the final 16 teams in the FA Cup this season.
Scottish midfielder McTominay was the matchwinner when United and Villa met earlier in the week but he will miss the latest league meeting between the two teams due to suspension after accumulating five yellow cards. United left-back Luke Shaw will also miss the Villa game for the same reason
