Wayne Rooney will face a late fitness test ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The England international has not played since the home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on New Year’s Day, and was sent to Egypt for rehabilitation this week by manager David Moyes while Robin van Persie is also not guaranteed to feature, despite recovering from a thigh problem that has kept him out for the past month.
Defensive trio Jonny Evans, Rio Ferdinand and Phil Jones will all be assessed ahead of the game, though Patrice Evra, Marouane Fellaini and Nani all remain side-lined.
The sides played out a goalless draw at Old Trafford back in August, while there last meeting at Stamford Bridge ended in a 1-0 win for the Blues in the quarter finals of the FA Cup.
Last season’s corresponding league match was won by United in October 2012, while Chelsea won in extra time when the sides met in the League Cup four days later.
Meanwhile, midfielder Anderson is closing in on his loan move to Fiorentina, according to Sky Sports.
The Brazil international is set to undergo a medical with the Serie A side after falling out of favour with the Premier League champions.
