Rooney frustrated with Liverpool and City form

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has admitted his frustration at the form of both Liverpool and Manchester City this season, according to the Metro.

The Premier League champions are eleven points behind Brendan Rodgers’ side ahead of their clash on Sunday afternoon, whilst City are nine points ahead of their neighbours with two games in hand and Rooney has said that is it ‘difficult’ to see the two sides doing well at a time when United have stuttered.

Meanwhile, the club have joined Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, the Mail Online understands.

Reports in Spain are claiming that the 21 year old has fallen out of favour with the La Liga leaders, with the focus very much on the front three of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Elsewhere, the Express understands that Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has denied having any contact with an English club, despite being heavily linked with a move to the Premier League since last summer.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are all reportedly interested in signing the midfielder, though he has two years remaining on his contract with the Serie A leaders, and remains committed to them.
