The Independent understands that Wayne Rooney is expected to sign a new contract with Manchester United, which is thought to be worth around £300,000 per week.
The England international, whose season has been beset with rumours of him potentially moving to Chelsea, is currently in Dubai with his teammates due to United’s absence from the FA Cup fifth round at the weekend.
While the deal has not yet been signed, it is reported to be significantly close to being agreed, and would keep the 28 year old at the club for another four-and-a-half years.
Rooney has eleven goals this season, taking his total to the club to 208, three behind Jack Rowley and just 41 shy of all-time top-scorer Sir Bobby Charlton.
Meanwhile, Sky Sports understands that Inter Milan midfielder Zdravko Kuzmanovic would welcome the arrival of fellow Serbian Nemanja Vidic, who has been linked with a move to the Serie A club.
Vidic is set to leave Old Trafford after a successful nine year stint in which he has won five Premier League titles, three League Cups, the Champions League and the World Club Cup, with Inter appearing to be leading the race to secure his services
