Rooney set for United stay?

The Daily Star has reported that Wayne Rooney does not want to leave Manchester United this summer.

Chelsea are preparing an improved offer of £40m for the England international, after seeing their initial approaches rejected out of hand last month.

However the 27 year old, who is thought to have featured in a behind closed doors friendly against Real Betis on Saturday, does not wish to end his nine year spell at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta claims that United have given up hope of signing Cesc Fabregas, according to Sky Sports.

The Premier League champions’ have seen two bids for the 26 year old, though to be around the £25m and £30m mark, dismissed out of hand by the Catalan club with reports suggesting that David Moyes is planning to make a club record third offer.

However, Zubizarreta has told a Spanish newspaper that the Premier League champions have accepted that Barca are not willing to sell.

Finally, United new boy Guillermo Varela has admitted that a loan move to Boca Juniors is an option for the forthcoming season, Sky Sports understands.

The Uruguay under 20 international is the clubs only new arrival so far this summer, though it is doubtful that he will immediately be considered for the first team.
