Rooney to miss QPR clash

Wayne Rooney looks set to sit out of Manchester United’s game with bottom of the table Queen’s Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon.

Phil Jones will also miss the trip to London after limping off in Monday’s FA Cup victory over Reading, while Darren Fletcher and Paul Scholes also remain side-lined.

Victory for United will see them extend their lead at the top of the league to fifteen points, with second place Manchester City not playing until Sunday afternoon, when they will face third place Chelsea.

Elsewhere, Sir Alex Ferguson has told the club’s official website that they ‘want to keep’ Portuguese winger Nani.

The 26 year old, who is out of contract at the end of next season, has repeatedly been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent months.

However, reports in the Metro suggest that Nani will be used as a makeweight in a deal for Porto winger James Rodriguez.

The Colombian has scored seven goals in eleven league games this season, helping his side to the top of the Portuguese Primeira League.

Finally, midfielder Ryan Tuncliffe has joined Championship side Barnsley on loan.

The 20 year old, who has appeared twice for United in this season’s League Cup, could make his debut against Bristol City tomorrow afternoon.
