Rooney told to train away from the first team

Wayne Rooney looks to be heading closer toward the Old Trafford exit door after the Metro reported that the striker has been ordered to train with the youth team.

The 27 year old has been strongly linked with a move away from the club all summer , though so far the club have rejected offers for the player.

Chelsea are the only club to have bid for the former Everton man, with Jose Mourinho making the striker his number one transfer target this summer.

Despite reportedly carrying a minor injury, Rooney in one of eight players to have been included in Roy Hodgson’s England squad for next week’s friendly against Scotland.

Wilfred Zaha has been called up, and will hope to win his second cap while fellow midfielders Ashley Young, Tom Cleverley and Michael Carrick, defenders Chris Smalling and Phil Jones and forward Danny Welbeck have also been named in the 25 man party.

Finally, Cesc Fabregas has moved to end speculation that he could be joining Manchester United after pledging his future to Barcelona, Sky Sports understands.

The former Arsenal captain has said he “never had any doubts” regarding his future at the Catalan club, who he returned to in 2011 having spent eight years in the Premier League with Arsenal.
