Football pundit Graeme Souness has urged Manchester United to recruit a craftsman in the form of Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen, if they are to provide better service to Romelu Lukaku up front. The Red Devils started the campaign in bright form, netting four goals in three of their first Premier League matches.
However, as the season has gone, the goals have dried up for Lukaku and United, and this has hampered their chances of keeping up with arch-rivals Manchester City in the pursuit of the Premier League title, which they last won in 2013.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has insisted that Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale, not even for one billion euros.
The 28 year old has been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu this summer, with a return to Old Trafford being mooted.
However, Perez is desperate to keep old of the forward, who has scored 146 goals in just 135 La Liga appearances.
He told Spanish newspaper Marca:
“I will do everything in my power to renew the contract. He has two years left on his contract, he is the best in the world and we would like to give a boost to the team with him as a leader and an emblem”.
Meanwhile, Marouane Fellaini has said that his “destiny is with Everton” amid reports that he is set to join up with former manager David Moyes at Old Trafford.
The Belgian international, who has also been linked with a move to Chelsea has insisted that he wants to remain a Goodison Park, meaning United may have to look elsewhere as they attempt to rebuild their midfield for next season.
Cesc Fabregas and Thiago Alcantara appear to be the names at the top of David Moyes’ list of targets, whilst Ajax’s Christan Eriksen and Ilkay Gundogan have also been mentioned.
Manchester United have opened talks with Barcelona regarding the potential purchase of midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
The Spanish international’s former club Arsenal have first refusal on the player should he become for transfer, though United sources are reportedly confident that will not be an issue.
Manchester United have become the latest side to be linked with a move for Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao.
Spanish newspaper Marca have reported that the Colombian, who has long been linked with a move to Premier League rivals Chelsea, has been in talks with United over a potential summer transfer.
