Adam double consigns United to yet another defeat

Manchester United suffered an eighth league defeat of the season, losing 2-1 at Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.

Goals either side of Robin van Persie’s 47th minute strike from Scotland international Charlie Adam secured a victory for Mark Hughes’ men, leaving United seven points off the top four, and fifteen behind league leaders Arsenal.

United compete Fellaini deal

Manchester United competed the signing of Marouane Fellaini just in time, after agreeing a fee of £27.5m with Everton.

The Belgium midfielder has been chased by David Moyes all summer, and is one of three new arrivals at Old Trafford, along with Uruguay U20 defender Guillermo Varela, and highly rated Swiss teenager Saidy Janko.

United will consider Shaw bid if they fail to bring in Baines

Manchester United will turn their attention to Southampton’s Luke Shaw if they fail in their attempts to sign Leighton Baines, the Express understands.

The 18 year old made his twenty-fifth senior start for the Saints in their 1-0 opening day victory over West Bromwich Albion at the weekend, and has been labelled as one of English football’s hottest prospects.
