Moyes names Round as assistant

David Moyes has confirmed the arrival of three trusted members of his backroom staff after officially beginning his reign as Manchester United manager.

Steve Round has, as expected, been named as assistant manager having spent five years as Moyes’ number two at Everton, while Chris Woods and Jimmy Lumsden have also been appointed as goalkeeping coach and first team coach respectively.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s final match in charge of Manchester United proved to be a memorable one, as the Champions twice squandered a three goal lead to eventually draw 5-5 with West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.

Shinji Kagawa, and own goal from Jonas Olsson and Alexander Buttner gave United a three-nil lead inside half an hour, though James Morrison pulled one back for the hosts five minutes before half time.

The 71 year old, who is well on course to lead the club to a thirteenth league title in his tenure, originally planned to retire over ten years ago, but having had a change of heart has gone from strength to strength.
