United back in for Fabregas

Manchester United are lining up at £26million move for Cesc Fabregas after losing out on Thiago Alcantara to Bayern Munich, the Metro understands.

The club was originally linked with a move for the former Arsenal man earlier this summer, though they appeared to turn their attention to his Barcelona teammate following his impressive performances at last month’s European Championships, where he captained the Spanish under 21’s to glory.

However, with Thiago deciding to link up with former boss Pep Guardiola at the Champions League winners, they have again targeted Fabregas as the man to solve their midfield woes.

Elsewhere, David Beckham has expressed his hope that Wayne Rooney will remain with the club, amid constant speculation that the striker may move on.

Arsenal and Chelsea have both been linked with the England international, who recently pulled out of United’s tour of the Far East and Australia through injury.

Beckham went on to say that he believes David Moyes will be a success at Old Trafford, tipping him to win the title in his first year, according to reports in the Metro.

Finally, Carlisle United have signed defender Reece James on a six month loan deal.

The 19 year old was part of the squad that won Professional Development League title last season.
