United back to winning ways with victory over Palace

David Moyes secured his first home win as Manchester United manager with victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday evening.

Robin Van Persie opened the scoring with a penalty on the stroke of half time, before Wayne Rooney made sure of the points with his first club goal since March.

New signing Marouane Fellaini was handed his debut after replacing Anderson after 62 minutes, while fellow Belgian Adnan Januzaj made his first league appearance, also as a second half substitute.

The 18 year old came on for Ashley Young, who has been warned by his manager about diving after he was booked for simulation.

It is not the first time the England international has been criticised in this manner, after the England international was also accused of such actions in games against Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers last season.

United will now turn their attention to Tuesday evening’s Champions League opener against Bayer Leverkusen.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a new, five year contract with Real Madrid, according to Sky Sports.

The former United star was linked with a return to Old Trafford this summer, but has now committed himself to the Spanish giants until 2018.
