Manchester United have closed the gap on the top four places on the Premier League table after the win over Burnley at the Theatre of Dreams on Thursday night. The Red Devils were able to close the gap on the top four spots to four points on the back of the 3-1 home win over the Clarets.
Manchester United doubled their lead in the 27th minute through a Ben Mee own goal after good work from summer signing Jadon Sancho who was brought back into the starting XI in place of Marcus Rashford. Eight minutes later, Manchester United got a third goal through Ronaldo with McTominay providing the assist. The third goal sealed the points for the Red Devils in the first half though Aaron Lennon pulled a goal back for the Clarets on 38 minutes to give them a glimmer of hope heading into the half-time break but it was just a mere consolation for the visitors after no goal was recorded in the second half.
The Red Devils have been playing catch up in the keenly contested race for top four in the Premier League this season, but a win over Burnley at Old Trafford has brought them closer to the leading pack. Manchester United are now four points off Arsenal in fourth place with a game in hand at the expense of the Gunners.
