United close in on Garay

Manchester United are close to agreeing a deal for Benifca defender Ezequiel Garay, according to the Mirror.

The 26 year old is set to be in Argentina’s starting line-up against Colombia this Friday, though his representatives will be deep in negotiations with United, with David Moyes hoping to wrap up a deal before pre-season begins.

A fee of £17 million is already thought to have been agreed with the Lisbon club.

Meanwhile, Javier Hernandez’s agent has quashed rumours that the Mexican striker is on his way out of Old Trafford by declaring that he is happy at the club.

The 25 year old had thought to be in the hunt for regular first team football after falling behind Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie and Danny Welbeck in the Old Trafford pecking order.

However, his representative Eduardo Hernandez has insisted his client is going nowhere.

Hernandez scored 10 goals in 22 Premier League appearances last season.

Finally, Manchester United will face Sevilla in Rio Ferdinand’s testimonial at Old Trafford on 9 August.

The 34 year old made his debut for the club back in August 2002, and has gone on to win six Premier League titles, two League Cups, the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup.
