Manchester United’s dream of a domestic double is over after narrowly losing their FA Cup Quarter Final replay to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Demba Ba’s acrobatic volley shortly after break was enough to secure victory for the hosts, who will play Manchester City in the semi-final at Wembley on April 14th.
Javier Hernandez had United’s best chance, though his back post header was saved superbly by Peter Cech.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s men will now turn their attention to Monday’s Manchester derby, where, should they win they will go eighteen points clear at the top of the league with just twenty-one left to play for.
Meanwhile, Wayne Rooney, who missed both games over Easter weekend with a muscle injury sustained on international duty, is likely to return for the visit of Manchester City.
Elsewhere, the Mirror reports that striker Angelo Henriquez is keen on being loaned out again next season, after losing his place in the Chilean national side.
The teenager is currently with Wigan Athletic, where he made just five appearances, scoring his only goal in a 3-2 defeat by Sundeland.
It is claimed that Henriquez would favour a move to the Championship or La Liga in a bid to play on a regular basis.
