United ease into fifth round

Manchester United have eased in to the quarter finals of the Capital One Cup after thumping Norwich City 4-0 at Old Trafford yesterday evening.

Javier Hernandez put the hosts in front from the penalty spot on twenty minutes after Adnan Januzaj was brought down by Leroy Fer, before getting his and United’s second nine minutes into the second half.

Late goals from Phil Jones and Fabio put the result beyond doubt, and see David Moyes’ men into the hat for the last-eight draw this evening.

Wilfred Zaha played seventy-minutes as he made his first appearance for the club sine the Community Shield victory over Wigan Athletic, and the United boss has insisted that the 20 year old is part of his plans, despite talk of him going back out on loan.

Meanwhile, Wolfsburg are considering a bid for Manchester United’s out of favour forward Shinji Kagawa, Sky Sports understands.

The Japan international has made just four starts for the club this season, and didn’t make the match day squad yesterday evening.

Finally, the shortlist for this year’s Ballon d’Or has been announced.

Robin van Persie is one of five current Premier League players on the list, while former manager Sir Alex Ferguson is among those nominated for Coach of the Year.
