United handed comfortable draw in Champions League group stage

Manchester United have been handed a favourable draw in the group stages of this seasons Champions League.

The Premier League champions will face Shakhtar Donetsk, Bayer Leverkusen and Real Sociedad; with their campaign beginning against the Bundesliga side at Old Trafford on September 17th.

Meanwhile, David Moyes has no fresh injury concerns ahead on Sunday afternoon’s trip to Anfield.

Phil Jones is expected to play despite hurting his back in the goalless draw with Chelsea, while Rafael, Javier Hernandez, Nani and Darren Fletcher remain side-lined.

Wayne Rooney is expected to keep his place in the starting line-up after impressing against the Blues on Monday evening.

Elsewhere, Everton have rejected an improved offer of around £36m for Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines, the Express understands.

The Express have also reported that the club have offered £25m for Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera.

The 24 year old impressed against United in the Europa League eighteen months ago, and is the latest in a long line of midfielders to be linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer.

Finally, Japan international Shinji Kagawa looks likely to remain in Manchester this season, despite being linked with a return to former club Borussia Dortmund.
