United hoping for six of the best

Manchester United will be hoping to record a sixth straight league victory as they host managerless Reading on Saturday afternoon.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s men are currently twelve points clear at the top of the Premier League, though their advantage could be cut with second place Manchester City facing Everton in the day’s early kick-off.

Nani is set to miss out with a hamstring injury, though Phil Jones could return, while Nemanja Vidic is likely to be recalled after missing last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter finals.

Elsewhere, Robert Lewandowski has told Borussia Dortmund that he favours a move to Old Trafford over Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich, according to the Telegraph.

The Polish international, who has been linked with a move to United since last summer, is set to leave Dortmund at the end of the season, though he is contracted with the German Champions until 2014.

Meanwhile Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley, Michael Carrick and Chris Smalling have been called up to the England squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Montenegro, along with Rio Ferdinand who is set to make his first international appearance since turning out against Switzerland in June 2011.
