United in for Van Ginkel

Manchester United will battle with Chelsea to sign highly rated midfielder Marco van Ginkel, the Daily Mail understands.

The Vitesse Arnhem player starred in this summer’s European Championships in Israel for the Netherlands, until their semi-final defeat to Italy.

United’s chief scout Jim Lawlor attended the tournament to cast an eye on the 20 year old, and the club are now preparing to start the bidding at £15million.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have emerged as the front runners to sign Nani, according to the Metro.

The Portuguese winger is almost certain to leave Old Trafford this summer after a frustrating campaign, where he made just seven starts in the Premier League.

Turkish champions Galatasaray were planning a bid, but have refused to meet the 26 year olds £8.5million valuation.

Juventus and Monaco are also said to be interested in the player who has one year remaining on his contract at United, though reports suggest that the Emirates is his most likely destination.

Meanwhile, the club look set to miss out on signing forward Robert Lewandowski, who looks set to remain at Borussia Dortmund for the final year of his contract.

Both Manchester City and Chelsea have also been linked with the Polish international, who is likely to secure a free transfer to Bayern Munich next summer.
