United interested in Ozil

Manchester United are considering a bid for Real Madrid’s Mezut Ozil, the Mail Online understands.

The Germany international, who is set to fall further down the pecking order at the Bernabeu due to the imminent arrival of Gareth Bale, has reportedly been made available for around £38m.

David Moyes is keen to bring in a marquee signing before the transfer window closes on September 2nd, and has so far failed to secure a deal for any of his major transfer targets.

Meanwhile, the club have reportedly made an informal inquiry to Chelsea regarding the availability of Juan Mata.

It is unclear whether the contact for the Spain international is part of the on-going Wayne Rooney saga, with rumours suggesting that the pair could be involved in a swap-deal.

However, the Mail Online claim that United will reject a third bid for Rooney, if and when it is made by the Blues.

The Champions have so far rejected two bids from Chelsea for the 27 year old, who has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford all summer.

The two sides meet at on Monday evening, and Jose Mourinho has confirmed that he will wait to make a new bid until after the game.
