United preparing new bid for Everton duo

Manchester United are lining up an improved bid for Everton duo Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines after seeing a bid of £28m rejected out of hand, the Metro understand.

David Moyes will now reportedly offer £35m, with £20m of that weighted toward the Belgian international; a figure which the club believe will be enough to land both players.

The new United manager, who beat Swansea City in his first league game in charge on Saturday, is yet to bring in any of his top transfer targets this summer, and is keen to bring in two of the players that served him so well whilst in charge at Goodison Park.

Both Baines and Fellaini played the entirety of the Toffee’s 2-2 draw at Norwich City on Saturday, and Roberto Martinez says that the champions are wasting their time in their pursuit of his two star players.

Meanwhile, 18 year-old midfielder Adnan Januzaj has the potential to be the next Cristiano Ronaldo, according to former United youth coach Eric Harrison.

Harrison, who brought through the likes of Gary and Phil Neville, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and David Beckham, believes that there is a strong array of talent in United’s squad, with the Belgian the best of the current crop.
