United reject Chelsea offer for Rooney

Manchester United have rejected a player-plus-cash bid from Chelsea for Wayne Rooney, the Mirror understands.

The Blues are said to have offered United £10m plus either David Luiz or Juan Mata for the England international, who looks increasingly likely to be leaving Old Trafford.

The majority off bookmakers make Stamford Bridge Rooney’s most likely destination beyond the summer transfer window, with an improved offer expected in due course.

The 27 year old is said to be ‘angry and confused’ at comments made by David Moyes, who suggested that the striker is behind Robin Van Persie in the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, David De Gea has told the Daily Mail that he would welcome the signing of his international teammate Cesc Fabregas.

The Barcelona midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, though Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova has stressed that the midfielder is keen to remain at the Nou Camp.

Elsewhere, United will battle with Tottenham Hotspur and Napoli for the signing of Inter Milan defender Andrea Rannochia, according to the Express.

The 25 year old Italy international, who is valued at around £21m,made forty-five appearances for the Serie A side last season.
