United see Baines bid rejected by Everton

Everton have rejected an official approach for m Manchester United for left-back Leighton Baines, Sky Sports understands.

The England international has been linked with a move to Old Trafford ever since former Toffee’s boss David Moyes was named as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor.

However, Everton are determined to keep their star man, who recently named the clubs Player of the Season for the second time.

Baines has never expressed a desire to leave Goodison Park despite continued links with United, and this announced that he is looking forward to meeting new manager Roberto Martinez.

Current first choice left back Patrice Evra has been linked with a move to Monaco, something which is likely to materialize should United be successful in their attempts to land Baines.

Meanwhile, the Daily Star has reported that Moyes is readying a move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale, if he is unable to persuade Cristiano Ronaldo to re-join the club.

United have been working on bringing the Real Madrid forward back to Old Trafford, with a bid of £60m expected to made.

Bale has been linked with a big money move following an impressive season which saw him named PFA Player of the Year for the second time since 2011.

He was also named FWA Player of the Year and Barclays Premier League Player of the Year.
