United set to strengthen

Barely 48 hours have passed since Manchester United secured their twentieth league title, and talk has already turned to potential reinforcements who could arrive at the club during the summer.

The club, who have already competed a deal for England winger Wilfred Zaha, have been linked with a new striker over the last few months, with Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski appearing to be their number one target, though reports in recent weeks have suggested that they could make a move for Radamel Falcao of Atletico Madrid.

Leighton Baines of Everton is also thought to be on Sir Alex Ferguson’s wish list, whilst Talksport have today reported that the club will battle with AC Milan for the signing of PSV Eindhoven midfielder Kevin Strootman.

Meanwhile, the United manager has revealed details of the negotiations between himself and Arsene Wenger over last summer’s transfer of Robin Van Persie.

After the deal was completed, Ferguson says that the Arsenal manager remarked, “He’s better than you think”, with the Scot admitting that his great rival was indeed correct.

Finally, the club have confirmed that there will be an open-top bus parade to celebrate the championship win throughout the city on May 13th, the day after they are handed the trophy following the final home game of the season.
