Manchester United remained top of their Champions League group despite being held to a goalless draw by Real Sociedad yesterday evening.
Substitute Robin van Persie missed a penalty after Ashley Young went down in the area, though the England international has once again faced criticism for allegedly diving while Marouane Fellaini was dismissed a minute from time after picking up a second yellow card.
The point keeps David Moyes’ men on top of Group A, with Bayer Leverkusen remaining in second place following their goalless draw with third place Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Premier League champions will now turn their attention to Sunday’s clash against table-toppers Arsenal, while they have three weeks until their next European clash – a trip to Leverkusen where victory would ensure their place in the last sixteen of the competition.
Meanwhile, the club have been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Marco Reus when the transfer window reopens, according to the Metro.
David Moyes has been promised funds to spend in January, and has reportedly targeted the Germany international as he aims to make a statement of intent.
The Metro also report that Benfica’s Ezequiel Garay also remains a target for the club, after they failed to land the defender in the summer.
