United through to FA Cup quarter finals

Manchester United set up a quarter final clash with either Middlesbrough or Chelsea after beating Reading 2-1 in their FA Cup Fourth Round tie at Old Trafford yesterday evening.

The hosts were inspired by Portuguese winger Nani, who took to the field shortly before the break, having replaced Phil Jones after the England international suffered an ankle injury.

The deadlock was broken by Nani on 68 minutes, and United didn’t have to wait long to double their advantage.

Javier Hernandez nodded in his fourteenth goal of the season before Jobi McAnuff responded for the visitors with just less than ten minutes left on the clock.

Attention will now turn to the Premier League clash with Norwich City on Saturday afternoon, where victory would take Sir Alex Ferguson’s men 15 points clear ahead of Manchester City’s game with Chelsea on Sunday.

Elsewhere, the Daily Star report that the club have joined the race to sign Spanish midfielder Isco from Malaga.

The 20 year old, who would cost £30 million, made his full international debut against Uruguay in Qatar earlier this month.

Meanwhile the Daily Express have named Paris Saint Germain’s Marco Veratti as a potential summer target.

Veratti, also 20, has made 25 appearances since arriving in the French capital last July, and has won three caps for Italy.
